Posted on 7/13/2017 by

We often have pre-menopausal women experiencing the first symptoms of hot flashes go on Pure Form Omega® and have partial to full resolution of their symptoms. Why is this so? It was an unanticipated effect. Well a little diving into the science of menopause was quite revealing.

Wound Care in the 21st Century

Posted on 7/5/2017 by

A recent article published by Medical Xpress commented on the explosion of hyperbaric oxygen centers in the US, mostly based on financial returns and very little scientific validity. Medicare pays up to $9000 for 20 sessions for chronic, non-healing wounds and most times it fails or only gives temporary results. When the treatment stops, the wounds recur. Why is this?

How Processed Foods Increase Your Chances of Getting Cancer

Posted on 6/27/2017 by

Well, it’s finally happened. A full 50% of Canadians will get cancer at some point in their lifetime.* This is truly an astounding effort considering that only 117 years ago cancer death rate was only 6.2/100,000 and now it is 200/100,000.* That’s an incredible 3,225% increase! It’s not because we are living longer (only by about 6 years and that is mostly due to better sanitation). It’s not genetic (that is statistically impossible). So it has to be environmental or in other words, what we eat!

The American Heart Association New and Dangerous Dietary Recommendations

Posted on 6/20/2017 by

The recent Presidential Advisory on Dietary Fats and Cardiovascular Disease is fraught with conflicts from the food industry. The recommendations in it are dangerous and contradict known biochemistry. The promotion of soy, corn and canola oil is directly against my recommendations for health.

Pure Form Omega and Heart Health

Posted on 6/16/2017 by

Here is a little known fact. What do you think the heart prefers for energy? Well its fats! Not sugar or carbohydrates. At least 65% of the energy your heart uses must be derived from fats. If good quality fats are not available, such as in today’s Standard American Diet (SAD diet), you will end up with issues that compromise your heart function such as Congestive Heart Failure (CHF). Someone with CHF is 50% likely to be dead within 5 years. That is as bad as most cancers. There are 6 million Americans with CHF and 550,000 more diagnosed every year. Almost all of it is preventable.

Interesting Effect of Fishy Omega-3 on Insects

Posted on 6/14/2017 by

A recent article looked at the impact of DHA/EPA (the Omega-3’s from fish oil) on the morphology of insects. There is currently aggressive, genetic modifications being done to plants to make them produce fish oil. Even though Nature would not have done this for probably a good reason (why ask such a basic question), man is going headlong into this endeavor. So now that we are at this precipice, what will it do to the environment?

Pure Form Omega and The Athlete

Posted on 6/8/2017 by

I often (almost always, in fact) get the question, “What does Pure Form Omega® do?” It’s an interesting question in the context of our current system that teaches “one pill for each problem.” Of course, this makes no sense, if you ingest something, it goes to all cells of your body and affects processes in all the cells. So when I get this question, the response is usually “What do you want it to do for you?”.

Possible Reduction in Opioid Use Post Surgery and Pure Form Omega®

Posted on 6/6/2017 by

We are facing a major crisis in North America today regarding the use of opioids for non-medicinal purposes. One of the major gateways into opioid abuse is through the post surgical period. Opioids are commonly prescribed for post surgical pain, both minor and major surgery but the persistence of opioid use is up to 6.5%. It is also known that patients can become dependent on opioid medication in as little as 3 weeks! When the physician tries to stop prescribing, the patient is left to the streets, leading to the explosion of opioid deaths we see today.

New Guidelines for Prevention of Post-Operative Surgical Site Infections

Posted on 6/1/2017 by

The CDC has released its recommendations for prevention of post-operative, surgical site infections. What’s interesting is what is missing. Probably the most important aspect of healing is the improving the patient’s health before and after surgery. Although a comprehensive nutritional program is ideal for surgical patients, it is probably not practical especially in the case of emergency surgery.
