Sugar, Diabetes and Inflammation - A New Pathway Is Born

A very interesting, new paper has been published. It could really be worthy of a Nobel Prize considering the impact of the information. The paper itself is quite complex biochemistry. It stems back to the 1930’s, when glucose metabolism was just getting sorted out. Eventually Hans Adolf Krebs discovered the Krebs Cycle, which explained the cells handling of glucose. He eventually won the Nobel Prize. All other research ended although there were alternative theories about the way cells handled glucose. One of the more spectacular involved a putative link between the metabolism of fatty acids and carbohydrates, reported in the 1930s by Henze and co-workers. It was considered disproven, until now.

One of the puzzling aspects of diabetes is that it has never been explained why it causes so much inflammation. If sugar went down the Krebs Cycle as expected, it should be completely metabolized into water and carbon dioxide and produce energy for the cell to use. Well, it turns out that the alternate pathway proposed by Henze resulted in the formation of a substance called 3-carbon a-oxoaldehyde methylglyoxal (MG). This happens to be very inflammatory and toxic to the body. It is found in high levels in diabetics and other inflammatory states such as Alzheimer’s Disease and other rapidly aging diseases. So Henze was right after all and this paper proved it biochemically.

The really exciting part is that MG is detoxified by the body using acetoacetate, which are ketones. Ketones are produced when one is consuming a diet high in good fats (the ketogenic diet) and this effect is not dependent on an enzymatic pathway (it happens in everybody). This means that going on a ketogenic diet is actually anti-aging and anti-diabetic! The implications are enormous for health!

Pure Form Omega is an ultra high quality fat that is essential for all ketogenic diets. It is extremely pure (as seen through our Purity Report) and effective (as seen in our studies here) and now we have the biochemical evidence to prove it. Try it today, give us feedback. It is essential to get the word out about this most important discovery.
